I’m white, I’m in an anti-racist book club, and that’s a massive privilege. The education is not the end game - in and of itself it does nothing to end racism. And, it can be an important step to inform effective and useful actions and allyship in this movement.
If you’re taking the time to read, great. We can also take meaningful action to end systemic racism while we learn by listening to BIPOC leaders, getting civically engaged, signing petitions, showing up for protests, amplifying BIPOC voices, donating to antiracist organizations, supporting BIPOC owned businesses, and speaking up against racism in our daily lives.

We see you out there, community! Keep going and nevertheless persist! We hope our allies will take a moment to READ THROUGH ALL of these visuals and let them soak in. Continue to heal yourselves, do the work, rest, repeat. Much love ❤️#Repost @officialmillennialblack ・・・
Feeling fatigued is normal. Finding ways to fight it is essential in keeping up the momentum we’ve started #blacklivesmatter (feel free to repost with credit)
Black Lives Matter. Let’s back that statement up with daily meaningful action to end systemic racism and injustice in our community.
Learn, study, engage, donate, protest, go to city council meetings, follow black leaders on social media, sign petitions, join SURJ, organize action with your friends and family, support and elevate local black leaders and businesses, hold white leaders accountable for their commitment to anti-racist work. It’s time. It’s been time.
Let’s go 🖤✊🏻
Black leaders of Santa Barbara have spoken. Their demands are clear and actionable - they need allies to create meaningful change in our city.
The first action step is contacting our local government to make sure these demands are met.
I’ll be holding space and accountability for community to take this first action. NOW IS NOT THE TIME TO HESITATE OR PROCRASTINATE. Email me at [email protected] to join us. I will send you email templates that SURJ SB has created to get you started.
Now the work can begin. Let’s all get free together ✊🏿✊🏾✊🏽✊🏼✊🏻

Silence is complicit. Fragility is complicit. Ignorance is complicit. Avoidance is complicit. Apathy is complicit. Non-action is complicit.
Basic actions we can take now: speak up, get educated, donate to anti-racist organizations, sign petitions, show up to protests and vigils, self reflect, join SURJ, get politically involved, financially support black owned businesses.
Start somewhere. It’s way past time for this to change. Systemic racism will not end until we end it.
Big shoutout to my homies, housemates and quaranteam @wovenbones @rogercoppola @clevrblends for lifting me up and loving me well. What a gift to so beautifully co-habitate (and co-parent 🐱) with you. I’m grateful for the ways we each show up and work to relate with open, honest communication, navigating stressors and shared space with kindness and care and a willingness to listen and lean into discomforts. It’s not always easy, and it’s definitely worth it. Love you fam 💜#wereinthistogether
